July

1-August 31

Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales tm – All summer long visitors can meet characters, hear mountain music and learn about the wildlife and plant life of the Smoky Mountains on the streets of Gatlinburg. Storytellers, musicians and cloggers perform at different locations along the Parkway every evening during this third annual event!

4th of July Midnight Parade – This 33rd annual showcase is the "First July Fourth Parade in the Nation!" Parade starts at 12:00 a.m. on July 4th. Floats, balloons, and marchers pay tribute to our country. See an original Red Baron Stearman Bi-Plane on Ripley's Aquarium Plaza.

River Raft Regatta - Enjoy a fun, unmanned, floatable object race for the whole family. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Christus Gardens on River Road. Race begins at 12 noon and ends at Ripley's Aquarium bridge where prizes will be awarded in several different categories. Free registration.

4th of July Fireworks Show - Join the celebration in downtown Gatlinburg to mark our nation's "Independence Day" with a magnificent fireworks show. The City of Gatlinburg lights up the mountain skyline downtown at 10 p.m. with this grand display.

Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair at Gatlinburg Convention Center - Art, crafts and music lovers can find over 200 booths featuring some of the nation's finest work. Artisans and craftspeople are on hand to demonstrate their skills, answer questions and offer their unique art for sale. Live Country & Bluegrass entertainment. Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Old Fashioned Hayrides - Enjoy a unique hayride with family and friends through downtown Gatlinburg. As fall begins in the Smoky Mountains, take this fun-filled hayride and enjoy breath-taking views of our beautiful mountains. Departure is from traffic light #6 at Mountain Mall from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, leaving approximately every 45 minutes.

10th Annual Taste of Autumn - Sample signature dishes from the area's finest restaurants. Enjoy live jazz entertainment provided by Karen Johns, live auction with a cash bar. Proceeds benefit United Way of Sevier County. Doors of the Gatlinburg Convention Center open at 5 p.m.

Ripley's Aquarium Of The Smokies is open 365 days a year at 9 a.m. The aquarium offers spectacular living displays of underwater life including sting rays, sharks, and thousands of varieties of fish.  There is also the Cargo Hold gift shop, a cafe, and full-service restaurant.  Contact Ripley's for a special pass that allows you to visit all Ripley's attractions for one low price. Located on the Parkway in Gatlinburg near Traffic Light #4 with a parking garage directly behind it. 

A  visit to the Smokies is not complete without a visit to Dolly Parton's Dollywood!  New attraction for 2004 is the Thunderhead Wooden roller coaster, the wildest ride in the woods!"  Right next door is Dolly's Splash Country, offering a full day of fun at the  beach with wild water rides, waterfalls & adventure for all! Special guest and season passes available.

Enjoy  the country's finest artists and craft people at the Gatlinburg 29th Annual Summer and Fall Craftsmen's Fairs. What makes these  fairs so unique is the fact that the artists not only make their  art available for viewing and sale, but they also demonstrate their special talents and skills.  Treat yourself to America's art and the sounds of bluegrass music at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.

The  Arts & Crafts Community is comprised of the largest group of  independent artisans in the country. A visit to the 8-mile loop  of shops, studios & galleries is like a visit to an era gone  by. Skills developed by settlers 200 years ago out of necessity are demonstrated here today. Members of the Craft Community will share with you their efforts in preserving the craft heritage of the Smoky Mountains.

All  indoor RainForest is open year round. Featuring over 500 live animals, representing over 150 species, your Jungle Expedition begins once you pass through our faithfully recreated ancient ruins, past a 25 foot tall jungle waterfall, and enter the RainForest.
